RRC puts into service the bridge over the Tamega river (Portugal)
On September 8, 2020, the ceremony for the full opening of the new bridge over the Tâmega River took place, which was attended by the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Pedro Nuno Santos, the Mayor of Mondim de Basto, Teresa Rabiço, the Vice-President of the Municipality of Celorico de Basto, Carlos Peixoto, and the President of the Board of Directors of Infraestruturas de Portugal, António Laranjo.
The contract carried out by RRC, improved the connection between the two neighboring municipalities of Mondim de Basto and Celorico de Basto. The variant is approximately 3,650 m long and has shortened the previous route by almost 5 kilometers. It included the restoration of existing roads and the construction of two bridges: the bridge over the river Veade, with a total length of 154m, and the bridge over the river Tâmega with a total length of 232m.
The present link, structural for the municipality of Mondim de Basto, allows better accessibility to the main corridors of the country, namely in the access to the A4 Motorway, which connects Matosinhos and Quintanilha, and provides the local population with better and secure conditions of mobility.
